Where are our New Year resolutioners? C’mon we’ve all been there, we’ve all had a year (for some every year) where we vow to make the change and drop 20, 30 or heck go big or go home and say 60+lbs will be gone this New Year!
At The Sweat Shop we believe in goals, we believe in being able to envision what seems impossible and making it a reality. Now with that being said we have some tips and tricks for not only setting goals BUT then following up with the daily tasks and hard work that it takes to meet those goals. Here is our list! Have tips of your own, leave us a comment and share & lets make 2017 THE year it all changes!
Self Audit– Take a look around. Sit in a quiet place and walk through what a week in your life entails.
- What does your day look like?
- What do you do on your time “off” after work hours?
- What do you do for fun?
- How do you celebrate?
- How do you deal with stress?
- What is my circle like?
The more you know, the more you grow! Think about it, ever been mid-drive down your usual commute and then you “snap out of it” and think wow, I totally zoned out there! In life we sometimes go into Auto Pilot. We go through the motions without actually being present in the moment. Auto pilot is a dangerous frame of mind and can become a way of life.
We have to take audit of our lives, consider what it is you want then find what needs tweaking, regroup and reroute.
The great news …. YOU HAVE CONTROL!
Realizing that fact is the key to making lasting changes.
Map it out– GPS guides you, tells you where you are in the journey and gives you direction even when you’re unsure of where you are.
Write down your goals, then give yourself some direction. Make a list of the actions that you need to take to achieve your goal.
Teachers create lesson plans. Coaches create game plans. Actors have scripts & set schedules. Greatness requires direction, focus and execution.
Train your focus- Like a muscle your focus needs training. Life has obstacles that will knock you down, back and sideways BUT learning to breathe through these, redirect and refocus your energy is possible.
If you train with us, you’ve heard these words.Your actions will always follow your focus.
If you’re focused on stress and how drained you are, your inner dialogue will repeat just that over and over (I’m so stressed, I’m so tired, I deserve this drink, I deserve this cake, I need this happy hour…).
Consider what you are focused on, is it a goal or is it an obstacle? #REFOCUS
Map your goals, look at it daily as you would your GPS & then execute.
Execute- This 7 letter word is the defining point between success and ideas. You can follow each step audit, map and train BUT without execution it is all just words.
The key to executing is in all the previous steps, having those tools sets you up to become more focused on the end goal.
So instead of thinking about how much weight you still have to lose, how you have to give up pizza or beer, your FOCUS is directed to the positives. The confidence you’ll gain, the feeling of strength and movement your body will develop & even the new found appreciation for REAL food. Plus buying a smaller size and hearing all your friends say “WOW you look great!” doesn’t hurt!
Follow the plan, make time for yourself. Stop making excuses.
You are worth the effort!
